Description

The Peninsula Residences in Shanghai are the most luxurious and exclusive private residences in mainland China. Thirty-nine refined riverside apartments by The Peninsula Hotels, Asia’s oldest luxury hotel brand, are located adjacent to The Peninsula Shanghai. These exquisite residences combine the rich heritage of The Peninsula brand with stylish, art deco infused contemporary interiors by acclaimed French designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. Each apartment has been carefully created by a team of global design, lighting and art experts, and offers deluxe home comforts by leading international brands, a range of signature concierge services and the same patented advanced technology enjoyed in Peninsula Hotels worldwide.

LOCATION
Mainland China’s pre-eminent residential address is on the historic Shanghai Bund. The Peninsula Residences are connected to The Peninsula Shanghai, at 32 The Bund, which affords spectacular views of the Bund, Huangpu River, Pudong and the former British Consulate gardens. The art deco-infused exterior of The Peninsula Residences perfectly blends with the timeless architecture of its landmark neighbours. Located beside the magnificent Bund, the Residences afford easy access to People’s Square, Nanjing Road and Shanghai’s commercial, banking and finance centres. Pudong International Airport is just a 45-minute drive, and Hongqiao International Airport is 30 minutes away by car.

RESIDENCES

The 39 exquisite one, two, three and four-bedroom residences blend traditional Peninsula standards of luxury with patented technologies, carefully selected furnishings and artworks and brand name appliances. More than a property, each Peninsula Residence is a home that is rich in design sophistication and refined comfort.

Each apartment is accessed by a private elevator that opens directly into a private lobby. Created by acclaimed French interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, each home is styled in tones of cerulean blue and ivory and incorporates traditional materials and art deco motifs inspired by 1920s Shanghai. Mahogany and ebony furnishings are offset by Noir St. Laurent and off-white St. Talino stones. All carpets are made of 100 percent hand-tufted wool, and under-floor heating is installed throughout. Apartments on the second floor boast extra high ceilings enhancing the sense of space and comfort, and each three and four-bedroom apartment, and most of the two-bedroom apartments, has a small balcony.

All apartments are triple-glazed for enhanced inside temperature control, quietness and security. Touchpad room controls are provided in each room, and wired and wireless broadband Internet access are offered throughout. A selection of classic and contemporary artworks by global artists adorns the walls.

Lounge
The spacious and finely crafted living room is the heart of each apartment. Inspired by traditional Chinese ceramics, the decoration is in shades of blue and white. The soft colour palette contrasts and harmonises with imported white-veined dark marble floors, patterned rugs, dark wood furnishings and deluxe crème sofas. Art deco bevels and wall lamps add classic style, and a large 3D plasma-screen television offers multi-media connectivity.

Dining Room
The large wooden dining table is perfect for dining with family or entertaining guests. Exclusive chef-on-demand services are another cherished privilege, with world-class chefs from The Peninsula Shanghai ready to prepare gourmet menus for residents to enjoy in their own home. Intimate dinners or large celebrations are just a phone call away.

Bedroom
Four different bedroom themes combine floral print European fabrics in a soft palette of beige, grey or sky blue, Frette Egyptian cotton bedding and Chinoiserie patterns and ornamentation for a warm and comforting ambience. Each ensuite bedroom has its own wardrobe or full walk-in dressing room made from beautiful oak wood, a well-lit dressing table, plus a 3D plasma screen television set atop a period-style chest.

Study
In the office, black and dark blue forms the background to bring out the rich collection of books and decorative objects that furnish the library. An elegant desk sits beside a large window affording fine views of the Bund and Huangpu River or Suzhou Creek.

Bathroom
Exquisite detailing adorns each crème coloured marble bathroom. An intricate floral pattern above the bathtub is handcarved in limestone to a French design. Bathrooms also feature double vanity sinks, custom designed faucets, a hands-free telephone, deluxe mood lighting, TV and radio inset into the heated mirror, and separate soaking tub and rain shower.

Kitchen
The perfect theatre for creating culinary art, each fully stocked kitchen is outfitted with professional equipment from Gaggenau and Poggenpohl, and finished with stainless steel detailing and marble flooring. The Peninsula silverware is imported from the UK. A bespoke grocery shopping service to restock the refrigerator and pantry is available to all residents.
