Maoming Road belonged to the heart of the former French Concession area, there are many famous historic buildings near the road. The London plane trees on both sides of the road often emit green fragrance for years. 1931 Restaurant & Bar is located at No. 112, Maoming South Road, the right end of the first floor ZhongHe apartment (Shanghai Municipal historic preservation architecture), a renowned small, and retro-style restaurant in Shanghai.
The area of the hall with 28 dining seats has only 50 square meters, The Business hour only starts from the afternoon ( 14 :00 ) to deep night ( 0 :00) everyday. During peak time all the seat almost are occupied.
Since setting up in 1996, 13 years have elapsed, 1931 Restaurant & Bar has received numerous local and foreign customers loving Shanghai during the period. There are many interviews and reports from overseas magazines and television medium.
In the book titled as "The Romantic stories on Shanghai " written by Miss Chen Danyan there are an article specially described "193i", the book was selected for the most popular books and reprinted several times and The original complex Chinese edition rights of the book was purchased by Taiwan's press for issue in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and Mainland. 1931 Restaurant & Bar as a pioneer of retro-style restaurant was pointed out by Professor Li Oufan in the book titled as "Modern Shanghai ", and The business style of 1931 Restaurant & Bar is raised from the commercial areas to a cultural phenomenon.
